The leading development themes of Lahti’s ecosystem agreement (lahti.fi) are Carbon-neutral circular economy and international sports business.
A carbon-neutral construction development centre and innovation ecosystem bring together cities, universities and research institutes (e.g. LUT University, LAB University of Applied Sciences, University of Helsinki, VTT Technical Research Centre) and construction companies.
Lahti’s centre for material circulation will serve circular economy innovation activities and international business on an industrial scale.
SportsBusinessHub Finland brings together sports business expertise, innovations and sustainable sports events. The development of the international sports business strengthens exports and Finland's position as a significant research and testing platform for sports in all seasons.
The leading areas of development will contribute to the City of Lahti's “Bold Green City 2030” strategy and to the city’s regional competitiveness strategy, where circular economy, design, physical activities and experiences are the top priorities. In addition, the choices strengthen the strategies of the region's higher education institutions and the main areas of focus for education and RDI operations.
