InnoCities combine the green digital transition of industry with new technological innovations, such as the fields of expertise that promote well-being and health technologies. Lead projects are needed to support networks that connect areas of expertise and to support the emergence of comprehensive, internationally significant work. Separate funding has been allocated to the lead projects.

Thematic cooperation brings together the resources of cities and promotes the sharing of good practices and international cooperation, such as international investments and financing international joint projects.

These pages will have information on the lead projects that are carried out once the projects have received their funding decisions. The first lead projects applied for funding in summer 2022.

In addition to lead themes, the Innovative Cities and Communities programme includes a national theme for innovation and competence networks. Innovation and Competence Networks projects aim to improve RDI operators’ ability to implement cross-regional and large-scale research projects that aim for commercialisation.
